RIFTS NG V7 Hunter Mobile Gun color by ChuckWalton RIFTS NG V7 Hunter Mobile Gun color by ChuckWalton
This is one of the CLASSIC RIFTS robots that I illustrated for Rifts Northern Gun (NG1) published by Palladiumbooks. It was debuted in RIFTS NG Prototype and will be released in NG1. Had to paint this one as it is the nostalgia for Rifts giant robots that many adventurers/GMs have had some of their first RPG experiences with. There may be more added to this description later. Original pencils here:

The Hunter Mobile Gun has been one of Northern Gun’s most iconic robot vehicles for many years. It is widely selected by Robot pilots, explorers, adventurers and high tech bandits throughout North, Central and South America. It has proven itself to be easy to operate, and a dependable workhorse in the field. It is equipped with a powerful Howitzer NG-H155 rail gun hat provide a range that is nearly superior to all other rail guns, as well as the technology to discharge a double shot which increases the damage delivery to adversaries. The Hunter Mobile gun has a nice ammo payload to suffice long expenditures of his powerhouse cannon. Also part of the Hunters armament are dual mini-missile launchers that are protected in the armored forearms and are ideal for self defense and engaging with enemy troops and close encounter combat. Built into the lower torso is the NG-330 Laser cannon turret that functions as a close range deterrent and laser support with its unlimited payload.

The Hunter Mobile Gun’s humanoid build is suitable for most terrain whether it is on the plains, in the forest or slogging through swamps and marshes. The design is also adept for gathering specimens during explorations, or to set up and carry heavy equipment and if need be to physically engage with giant sized predators and rival adversaries. It is ideal for patrols, sentry positions, artillery and troop support and of course exploration.

Model Type: NG-V7

Class: Infantry Assault Robot Vehicle.

Crew: Three; One pilot, one Co-pilot and a gunner, plus four passengers, though the pilot can handle all functions if necessary.

Flight: Not Applicable.

Height: 32 feet.
Width: 19 feet from shoulder to shoulder.
Length: 14 feet.

Have to say I've always liked the NG Hunter; phallic defense system aside.
I take it that it has gotten a bit of an upgrade in the NG-1 book?
Not going to be having said book in Toronto anytime soon due to ONLY ONE STORE in all of Toronto carrying Pbooks products.

When I played rifts my first time I fought a fully manned one. Man a pain in the ass. But the group finally killed it when I went into H-t-H with it in my Gladius destroid from ROBOTECH Strike force book. Man big mech with swords vs a big big gun. Swords win when two players do a full melee burst into the hunters back.

I have a question that other players and myself have about Rifts robots. It seems that the chassis seem to small to support both the mechanical systems of the vehicle and the number of pilots that they indicate to be in each robot? Does anyone have any ideas or comments about this?

Thanks for asking. I can't speak for the Robots designed previous to my arrival (i.e.: Mobile Hunter Gun), but the new designs (i.e.; Bulldog, Super Behemoth X, Wolverine, Gunwolf, etc.) all will accommodate the necessary specifications for mechanical composition as specified per unit.  I take mechanical design and functionality very serious when designing these robots or creatures, so I make sure that there is room for such stats.

I do suppose the NG Hunter Mobile Gun could cram a pilot and co-pilot side by side in the chest cavity, with a gunner in the dome and room for (4) passengers in a back-to-back crouching hallway shaft atop of the shielded power-plant chassis and arm rotators,  that is accessible through the back.

True, If Kevin and the others multiplied the dimensions by 1,2-1.5 feet, I think they would have been a lot more believable. Although since I have never completely stuck to the letter of an RPG that is what we did (and converted MDC to SDC to assuage the gripes about dying outside of armor a lot (silly PC's).

Nice to see it both in colour and it looks like your painting is evolving - texture brushes or texture layers?

Thanks Seothen!
I have been diving into the digital coloring realm more and enjoying many tutorials.
As to textures, both. I use whatever I can to capture the affect (s) I am seeking. XD
