Hey DA Fam! I waited to give some time for the release of Palladiumbook’s Rifter 50 before I posted this illustration so that fans would have some surprises to enjoy. This is another illustration featured for the SPLICERS RPG setting, called the Gardener. This concept was created and written by Brandon Aten () & his brother-in-law Matthew Orr

It is one of the new specialized types of Host Armors (either a Photosynthetic or Thermosynthetic metabolism) that serves as a mobile garden for genetically modified plants that can be as lethal or formidable a the adversaries that Splicers face. The plants are easily plucked from the Host Armor and planted to be cultivated into deadly tools of defense or destruction. Once planted, the defenses will re-grow on the armor preserving its appearance of plants, vines and flowers and keeping the various plant surplus to be re-used. Energy sentry cannons, explosives, fortified walls, bunkers, food, etc., are all at the disposal of the Gardener to protect the Greta Houses they serve.

There is a wonderful array of Plant fortification plants & flowers that can be grown for different fortification functions, from the bunker field shelter like Bao House, Bio Comm roots for increasing communications, explosive Boom Shroom, Bramble thorny vine wall fortifications, deadly napalm breathing snap dragon plants to the Deadly Photon Infuser Cannon and plenty more, the Gardener brings serious Biotech & need functionality to the table.

Time on this illustration was around 7.5-9 hrs. using zebra m.301 .05mm lead. I really enjoyed this design and have really opened my eyes to the possibilities of what floral biotechnology can do in the setting of Splicers and how much more new designs could be added to this wonderful RPG. Perhaps once the plate is cleared, I will end up painting this one.
